Wakefulness

Something really exciting happened to me this morning.  I was in that half awake half asleep state laying in bed and to my delight I hear the usual morning sounds birds chirping, workers hammering.  Since I’ve moved to Los Angeles I’ve gotten used to all these morning farm sounds even the roosters cockadoodling.  I could have kept laying down enjoying my half subdued euphoria and just waited out the morning til I figured out what to eat for lunch, but today was different.  At first I thought I heard it outdoors and it would just pass.  I was really trying to be optimistic about things at this point, hopeful that I could get a few more minutes of rest.  Then the sounds grew louder, right over head at this point.  The sounds seemed to be stereo in nature coming from all directions.  I thought to myself, “NO WAAAY!”  I saw its black beedy eyes staring  at me, toying with me, robbing me of my sleep.  Enough was enough, I grabbed a magazine and chased it round the room, but it was too fast. (You would think something so large wouldn’t be so agile) Finally I trapped that crazy giant fly and it knew it was going to die, so it walked out through the separation in my window.  Now that was exciting.
